Veera at Vogue, Forces of Fashion 2024
This year marked a huge moment for me, I finally got to attend Vogue’s Forces of Fashion 2024! I missed it last year while going through some personal challenges, but this time, I showed up, fully present, and ready to take it all in.
What made it even more meaningful was that I did this on my own. I lost my parents a long time ago, and I never really had the chance to ask for their advice or share these big milestones with them. So being there, surrounded by icons and creatives, was emotional and empowering.
Coming from a small neighborhood, even in a big city, life growing up was messy. I saw the chaos of nightlife, casinos, and a lot of toxic energy around me. I never got involved in any of that, but it was always in the background. And now, stepping into a space like Vogue, it feels like I have turned the page. I’m walking into something brighter. Something that finally feels like me.
The event itself was incredible, held at Vogue HQ inside One World Trade Center. Picture this: you walk in, and suddenly you’re surrounded by legends. Anna Wintour. Jean Paul Gaultier. Victoria Beckham. Nicki Minaj. It was surreal. There were live panels, runway conversations, and exclusive workshops. And it all centered around how runway fashion isn’t just fashion—it is art, performance, storytelling.
One unforgettable moment? Watching Pat McGrath’s live demo where she revealed her viral glass-skin technique. Turns out, it took over 340 tries to perfect. Seeing her create that look in person was like watching magic happen!!!
The energy didn’t stop there. The after-party at The Times Square EDITION was a full celebration of creativity. Hosted by Vogue Club’s Naomi Elizée, it honored the winners of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund—Dynasty and Soull Ogun. DJ Isan Elba kept the vibe alive, and artist Rebecca Schneider painted live fashion portraits on the spot. It felt like the entire city was buzzing.
Looking back, I’m just grateful. Grateful that I trusted myself, showed up, and embraced the unknown. This wasn’t just a fashion event, it was a reminder that no matter where you come from, you can find your place in the world.
This was just the beginning. And I cannot wait for what is next.
See you soon, xoxo VT.
